Clayton & Kristi | A Lake View Walker Wedding

As you all know, I love weddings. I love everything about them; the bride and her doting bridesmaids getting ready, the groom’s first look at his bride, the exchange of vows, the tears, laughter, dancing, toasts, etc. This wedding was extra special to me because I was there to photograph my lovely friends’ wedding. We met Clayton & Kristi less than a year ago when they had contacted us about photographing their wedding. I knew that photographing their wedding was going to be more than just work when Kristi sent me an email saying that we should go out and celebrate after their engagement session¬†because I was just days away from graduation. I loved that after only meeting us once, they were already welcoming us into their lives as friends. We have had such a wonderful time getting to know Clayton & Kristi over the past few months and were so excited to be a part of their big day, especially since it meant spending the night at a gorgeous resort on Leech Lake. :)

Their wedding took place at Chase on the Lake Resort in Walker, MN and their day was predicted to be scattered with thunderstorms (since every day during the week had been scattered with thunderstorms, we felt like the odds were against them). On our drive up, Paul and I kept checking the radar and as you can see from the first photo, it looked as if the weather predictions would come true. However, luck was on their side the entire day. The sun came out at just the right moments, the sky was a bright blue, no rain was seen, and at the end of the night the sunset peeked through the clouds at the most perfect time.

The inside of the cottage where Kristi and the girls got ready was absolutely adorable. I wanted to move in and live there.

Their colors were blue and yellow – my favorites.

Clayton and Kristi had gotten each groomsmen, usher, and father a personalized knife, hence the photo on the right. :)

Lovely, lovely bride.

I absolutely loved the resort – so much history at this place!

Waiting for his bride…

Love this one Paul got right before Clayton turned around. :)

If you can’t tell, lots of people were cheering from the sidelines.

And others were crying tears of joy from the sidelines. :)

How gorgeous is that sky?!

Let me just say that this bridal party was wonderful. They were so helpful all day, listened to me shouting out orders, and made Paul and I feel so welcome all day. A huge thank you to them for making my job so much easier! :)

It had already been a long day, so naturally they took a fishing break.

Their ceremony took place right outside the cottage where the girls got ready, overlooking the lake. It was perfect.

Love all their reactions. :)

Clayton and Kristi put together a wooden box filled with wine, glasses, and letters to each other. They will be opening it on June 22nd, 2014. :)

They’re married!!

I would also like to point out that when Kristi created her timeline, she left a lot of time open for photographs. So, a tip to future brides and grooms: if you want more photos together, make sure you allow it in your timeline! :) PS. Isn’t this cottage adorable? Future house right here.

Gorgeous, Kristi.

Clayton is from Idaho and Kristi is from Minnesota – so many people from all over attended their wedding – such a special treat for them!

This was hilarious!! Clayton and Kristi’s dads were called up to the stage to dance in front of everyone. They danced to “I’m Too Sexy”…it was awesome.

A lovely cupcake bar – choose the flavor and the icing!

I usually don’t put up a lot of dancing photos, but just like throughout this entire blog, I couldn’t decide because they were all so good!

Halfway through their slow song, Kristi surprised her dad with one of his favorite (and super upbeat) songs. :)

Clayton’s mom had many tears of joy throughout the day, especially during their dance. :) Love these ones Paul got of them.

After the first few dances, we stole Clayton and Kristi for some sunset photos on the lake. Love this one.

Like I said earlier, the sunset peeked through at just the right time.

Congratulations, Clayton & Kristi! We had an amazing time at your wedding and are truly blessed to have you both in our lives. You are both such wonderful people and we couldn’t be more happy for you! xoxo
